What we do and where

The Cat's Pajamas target audience ranges in age from preschool through elementary school and their families at venues of any size. A concert is typically 45-60 minutes in length but arrangements can be made for 1.5 hour shows with an intermission, or multiple sets throughout a longer event. The band is available for arts and music festivals, school assemblies (preschools, elementary schools and schools for communities with special needs), private clubs, street fairs, camps, corporate and public relations events, fundraisers and private parties.

Did you say school assemblies?

Yes! The Cat's Pajamas travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic and New England states with our elementary and special needs school show Reading Rocks! and our preschool program, Sing Me a Story. With our companion piece CD, Reading Rocks is a 45-60 minute literacy- centric show celebrating books and the kids who read them. The content of the assembly varies with the target age group, but our trademark high octane performance always involves your community in singing, moving and, literally, dancing in the aisles to age/theme appropriate music. Janet Schreiner and three musicians bring a kindie-rock sound with lead and back-up vocals, electricguitar, bass guitar or keyboards, and drums that engages your entire school community. We are available for assemblies on Mondays through Fridays; we can kick off your school week, perk it up in the middle or end it with a BANG!

We also offer a fundraising package in which your parent association promotes the sale of our three award-winning CDs, "Cool Music for Kids," "Goin' Bananas.", the companion piece to our assembly, "Reading Rocks!" and our DVD, "Live! It's The Cat's Pajamas!" Your school keeps 50% of each album sold before and one week after the day of the performance. This goes a long way toward covering our fees or raising additional income towards a future assembly or a purchase for your music department. We provide you with fundraising letters, posters, order forms and fliers, custom made for your school. You do the copying and the distribution and collection of order forms. I write you a check. Couldn't be easier!

Here's what principals say:

On behalf of the students and staff at Southeast Elementary School, I would like to thank you for a thrilling afternoon of entertainment. Your magnificent stage presence and communication with the student audience was breathtaking. Thank you for the best show around.
-Barbara Heckard, Principal
